How pleasant it is, after the intensity of the Resurrection plays, to come to this simple story of some teaching by Jesus and what people made of it! There isn’t even anything odd or controversial about it, except for the business of the shepherd vs. the gate, and there’s a common explanation for that that at least prevents it from being a conflict, though it still sounds a little off to me.
